Human Resources primary responsibilities include the creation and application of policies and practices that help the City attract, develop, & sustain a high performing workforce, as well as maintain a positive and fulfilling environment for all City employees.  They serve as a resource to department heads, City Staff, & Council, providing advice or clarification regarding human resources, personnel, and professional development. Directs personnel recruitment and selection, including advertising, receiving, screening and distributing applications, administering tests as required. HR manages the hiring process from offer to onboarding.  HR handles administration of benefits programs, safety training, worker's compensation, unemployment compensation, leaves of absence, FMLA program, and other related programs.  HR oversees the City's compliance with federal and state personnel laws and regulations that cover topics such as wages and hours, equal employment opportunity, and drug and alcohol testing.  Human Resources advocates for employees, plans City employee events, mediates between employees, & between employees and management.  Promotes programs and activities to ensure equal opportunity & access to all individuals.
