Run Water/Freezing Pipe Prevention Information

When the frost level reaches four(4) feet, Rhinelander Water Utility will contact newspapers, radio stations, and WJFW,  and use Facebook and this website to alert authorized customers to run water to prevent the freezing of their water supply.  List of authorized customers will be available on this website and posted at City Hall. 

During the directed time period, water should be run 24 hours a day, with cold water flowing from a single fixture with a pencil lead diameter flow stream that will fill a 12-ounce container in approximately 1 minute. 

ONLY Authorized customers will receive the water and sewer use credit for the DIRECTED time periods. Utility customers who run water, without prior Water Utility authorization, are not authorized to receive the water and sewer credit.  Authorized customers will not receive water and sewer credit for the water run outside of the directed time period.

You must have prior authorization from the City of Rhinelander to run your water in order to receive the water and sewer credit.
